I've been struggling with this one for days now. We have SCCM 2007 SP2 R3, and I'm trying to deploy Windows 7 x64 to a few Dell Optiplex 980s.

Now, I know this model has the Intel 82578DM network adapter, which seems to be a component of the driver that's listed as 'Intel 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection'. My problem is, I can't seem to find a version of this driver that will work properly in WinPE 3.0. Each time I boot one of the PCs to deploy, it automatically restarts out of the task sequence since it is unable to get a valid IP. I've tried injecting the drivers from the newest Dell WinPE CAB, the newest CAB for the Optiplex 980 (also from Dell), and even the newest Intel PRO drivers from Intel's web site (version 17.1). NONE of them have worked.

In each case, I'm using the Win7 drivers since this is WinPE 3.0. Has anyone else run into this, and have you found a driver that will work with the Optiplex 980?

Thanks in advance! Thanks for the suggestions. I finally have this resolved. As it turns out, I realized that the updated versions of my boot images were not getting copied out correctly to the PXE Distribution Point (C: RemoteInstall SMSIMAGES SMSPKG ), despite SCCM reporting that they had been. So in fact, the Dell CAB drivers do work properly, but my machines were not pulling the updated version of the boot.wim. To resolve this, I ended up removing/uninstalling the PXE Service Point and WDS, rebooting, removing the RemoteInstall folder, and then re-installing WDS/PXE service point.
